SPARC started the summer right at their Kickoff To The Summer Dance Party this weekend. Food, drink and dance were on the menu; the latter supplied by DJ Black Rabbit, who not only kept the dance tunes moving, but had a video display as well, matching up the tone and the area of whatever music he was spinning.
A fundraiser for the non-profit South Pasadena Arts Council (SPARC), the event also featured Cuba Swift, the Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter known for her mix of authentic Cuba salsa with hip-hop and reggaeton. Cuba had some demonstrations and also invited attendees to learn a few steps.
Kickoff to Summer Dance Party included food provided by Mamma’s Brick Oven Pizza & Pasta. Raffle prizes were supplied by Old Focals Eyeware, Dual Crossroads, Hotbox, and Jasleen’s, among others.
