Our float has been designed – SPARK OF IMAGINATION. The float concept was submitted by Scott Feldman and the rendering artists are Richard Carlow and Matthew L. McCoy. Thanks to our Design Committee for coming up with a great float.
The Golf Tournament is this weekend. It will be held on Saturday, June 25 at the Arroyo Seco Golf Course. Registration is at 7am and the Shotgun start is at 8am.
The Beast (our unbuilt float) will be an entry in the 4th of July parade again this year. The SPTOR day’s schedule is:
- 6am – The float will be brought down to the parade route by the construction crew. Our parking spot is on Mission at Diamond.
- 7am – Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast at the Fire Station
- 8:30am – Decorating the float for the parade
- 10am – Parade starts
- Space for riders on the float is limited this year due to safety concerns. To make room for volunteers, we are asking only volunteers and their immediate family ride on the float.
We need the community’s help to kick of the sale of banners that hang inside the float tent. This is a great way for a business to advertise or for an individual/family to root-on the Float Team. An information flyer is attached. Please share with businesses that you go to or others whom might want to sponsor SPTOR in this way. When there are a lot of banners hanging in the tent, it shows that we have community support and it looks great. Contact Wende with any questions or completed forms at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Since our first Yard Sale was such a huge success, there will be another one. Dates are being looked at in September so keep that in mind when you’re cleaning out your home, garage, storage unit, etc. Also pass the word to everyone you can, so that we can get some great donations. Thanks again to those in the community that supported the first yard sale and keep an eye open for the date.
The July Monthly Meeting has been cancelled. Our next meeting will be Tuesday August 2 at City Hall. Join us and see how you can support the oldest self-built float in the Rose Parade.
