Ron Koertge, South Pasadena’s first Poet Laureate,  reads from Yellow Moving Van,  a new collection of poems. Tuesday, November 13 at Vroman’s Book Store in Pasadena.  695 East Colorado Blvd.  7:00 p.m.

Billy Collins, former U.S. Poet Laureate, calls Ron Koertge’s work  “Sly, inventive and deeply-good-hearted.”  Edward Field says, “These are not only the most charming poems in the world, but great fun.”

In an interview published in Rattle magazine, Ron said, “In college I was usually baffled by the poems in my textbooks.  The teacher was there to explain everything, but it was all pretty mysterious. I knew I couldn’t write poems like the ones I was studying, so I wrote another kind.  Poems that were sometimes like very, very short stories.  Yellow Moving Van is probably my tenth or eleventh book, so I must be doing something right.”
