Woman’s Club Installs new Officers with 1926 gavel

The Woman’s Club of South Pasadena has elected and installed Club officers for 2018--2020

The newly elected Board members are: Mavis Hansen, President,  Diana Romano, 1st VP, Elizabeth Calvert, 2nd VP and Membership Chair, Sally Ehrheart,  3rd VP and House Chair, Brandy Guenveur, Secretary,  Pat Payne ,Treasurer,  Diane Crum; Financial Secretary,Amber Baldwin,  Federation Secretary.  The officers were installed by Rita Aleman, the San Gabriel Valley District President and member of the California Federation of Woman’s Clubs.

A highlight of the installation was when outgoing President, Mary Cox, passed the gavel, engraved with a 1926 date, to new Club President, Mavis Hansen.  Cox  believes the gavel has been in continuous use for over 95 years. The Woman’s Club, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization was founded in 1899 and have held regularly meetings and events in their historic Clubhouse since it was built in 1913.

The newly installed group will lead the Club as it continues its long history of charitable and service activities aimed at enhancing the lives of those in need.

Incoming President,  Mavis Hansen, announced that her theme will be “Volunteer Service from the heart” She stressed the importance of member commitment to community service and support of the Club’s and Federation’s  many service and philanthropic projects.

Prior to being elected President, Mavis served as Federation Secretary for the Club and has held numerous positions in the San Gabriel Valley Distric.  She holds the Chairmanship for the signature program of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs: Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention.  Locally, Mavis serves on the DVAC (Domestic Violence Action Coalition)
