Wine & Song at Lost Parrot Cafe featuring Michael McNevin, Kray Van Kirk and special guest Daniel Bracken

South Pasadena’s Wine & Song host, Brad Colerick, returns home this Wednesday April 17 at 7pm after doing some shows in Utah, Colorado and Arizona. He also attended a screening of Lost Bird at the Grand Mesa Short Film Festival, where it received the People’s Choice award among other accolades.

In store for South Pasadenans this Wednesday is Michael McNevin along with Kray Van Kirk and special guest Daniel Bracken. Show starts at 7, tickets may be purchased in advance at the link below or at the door. Lost Parrot Cafe has wonderful food and a full bar.

Alaskan finger-style guitarist Kray Van Kirk has a Ph.D. in fisheries population dynamics modeling. However, he realized that he liked writing songs more than statistical models, so he put aside his computer, and picked up his guitar and hasn’t looked back. He also apparently does a spot-on impression of Japan’s nineteenth century blind swordsman, Zatoichi. Of this charming, quixotic and eclectic performer, the Borderline Folk Club in New York wrote that Van Kirk was “what every singer-songwriter should aspire to.”

Michael McNevin’s songs read like short stories—full of heart, humor, and a keen eye for detail. Skillful guitar work and nuanced vocals underscore the characters and places of his travels. His easy going rapport and knack for storytelling brings audiences into his scenes. Michael grew up and resides in the train town of Niles, California where the first set of railroad tracks entered the San Francisco Bay Area in 1869. Michigan songwriter and finger-style guitarist, Daniel Bracken, will make a special guest appearance.
