South Pasadena Middle School Drama's winners for the annual DTASC competition that went virtual this year

On November 15, 2020, the Drama Teachers’ Association of Southern California (DTASC) announced the winners of their annual fall drama competition. Each year, the South Pasadena Middle School (SPMS) Advance Theatre Arts students participate in this festival.

In lieu of the typical live festival, the organization offered a virtual festival competition this year and 10 SPMS theatre students participated.

Congratulations to the following students who made it to the finals and won awards during the competition:

Public Domain: 1st Place Award

Students: Eliana Andrea & Elizabeth Mullaly

The submitted scene had to be from any play in the public domain – except from Shakespeare.

Student Original: 2nd Place Award

Students: Violet Chin, Diego Rodriguez-Moguel, Dash Roll & Sophia Teyolia

For this category, students devised their own scenes. Our students came up with the idea about a support group for middle school teachers dealing with virtual school.

Large Group Comedy: Honorable Mention Award

Students: Helon Chichester, Kenneth Mogel, Sabine Ornelas & Mikala Toshima
