Braun, a 24-year resident of the city, is deeply involved in community service, having served as president of Women Involved in South Pasadena Political Activism (WISPPA), Regional Commissioner and also Area Director of the American Youth Soccer Association (AYSO), and as a board member for both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

She also has deep experience in helping improve our city, serving as a member and Chair of both the Public Safety Committee and Planning Commission.

“Janet Braun is intelligent, hard-working, and has a tremendous amount of experience serving South Pasadena. This is a critical time in our city. Janet not only has the experience to be a great City Councilmember, but she also has the most important trait–Great Judgement,” said Mary Urquhart. “I fully endorse Janet without hesitation.”

Braun will focus on public safety, housing, land use, economic development, and infrastructure issues, all with a keen eye on fiscal responsibility and problem solving. She is also committed to robust public engagement to ensure our city can collectively address the many critical issues it faces.

Mary Urquhart and Ellen Daigle will co-chair Janet’s campaign committee, which includes Dr. Bill Sherman, treasurer, Jeremy Ding, Debbie Feess, Jacqueline Ficht, Kevin Heintz, Dr. Harry Lieberman, Sherry Plotkin, Delaine Shane, Mike Shimpock, and Zhen Tao.

Janet is currently the Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel for HBT Labs, Inc., a generic pharmaceuticals company. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Ohio State University. She serves on the Ohio State College of Engineering Campaign Committee and was recently honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
