NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the South Pasadena Unified School District, acting by and through its Governing Board, hereinafter referred to as “District”, will be accepting RFQ/RFPs no later than 4:00 pm, Friday, January 7, 2022.  Contractor qualifications and proposals shall be submitted via email attachment to Tim Mawhinney, Director – Bond Construction/Special Projects:  tmawhinney@spusd.net.

Overview & Objective

The South Pasadena Unified School District (“SPUSD”) is a California Unified School District comprised of the District Office and five K-12 facilities: Arroyo Vista Elementary School, Marengo Elementary School, Monterey Hills Elementary School, South Pasadena Middle School (“SPMS”), and South Pasadena High School (“SPHS”).

Through this Request for Qualifications/Proposals (RFQ/RFP), SPUSD is seeking proposals from firms in order to identify and select the most qualified Energy Services Consultant/Contractor (“Contractor”) to implement a scope of work related to:

  • Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) modernizations and replacement projects.
  • Ventilation improvements
  • Air cleaning technologies
  • Building Automation System (BAS) upgrades

For the Project(s), the Energy Contractor will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all aspects of California ESSER, SPUSD, Division of State Architect processes and regulations, Office of Public School Construction processes, California Department of Education reporting, and Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations.

SPUSD intends to award an implementation agreement for energy conservation services utilizing the provisions of California Government Code Section 4217.10-4217.18.

Miscellaneous Information

Proposer shall be licensed or registered as a professional architect or engineer, and will provide the respective professional license or registration number.

Each proposer shall be a licensed contractor pursuant to the California Business and Professions Code, and be licensed to perform the work called for in the Proposal Documents.

Proposer shall be registered as a public works contractor with the Department of Industrial Relations and will provide its DIR registration number.

It is each bidder’s sole responsibility to ensure its proposal is timely delivered and received in the manner designated above.  Proposals received after the scheduled closing time for submittal of proposals shall not be accepted.
