SPUSD Gym Measure SP Update | Completion Nears for Projects at SPHS, SPMS

South Pasadena High School – Athletics Project

With the installation of finishes underway, we are in the home stretch. We will be completing the main lobby front entrance, final sealing of the gym flooring, and installing mechanical, electrical and plumbing finishes.

As the final touches are complete, we will gear up to start the commissioning and final testing of all the equipment in the buildings to ensure that they are performing as designed.

The remaining sitework is also well underway with the upper and lower tennis courts being prepared for concrete at the end of the month.

Bleachers, basketball courts, batting cages and tennis courts are scheduled to be installed directly after finish concrete. The athletic surfaces for the tennis court and exterior basketball courts will be the final finishing touch along with the exterior gates, finish hardware and the decorative colored concrete at the south of the gym.

Landscaping is well underway with the trees and shrubs being planted. Final cleanup for interior and exterior is scheduled prior to the project turnover and occupancy.

The temporary construction fencing is scheduled to be removed at completion to allow access to the sidewalk. At that time, the building will be ready for its intended use.

SPMS Old Gymnasium Rehabilitation Project

In August we made great strides with the overhead portion of the black box theater. The team completed the upper acoustical insulation, ductwork, sprinkler piping and electrical and we’re ready to install the theater rigging grid.

With the rigging grid installed, we can hang our theater lights. On the outside of the building, we’ve built out the elevator shaft and West entrance, and we’re preparing the West face for plaster.

Once complete, the building envelope will be closed and the team can install wood looring and casework.
