“Magic Kingdom” was the theme Tuesday night as bands from 5th through 8th grade in the South Pasadena Unified School District performed during a concert at the local middle school.
Students played to a packed quad filled to the brim with families watching their kids display their musical chops all evening.
Under the direction of Sarah Martin, music from Disney movies filled the air during a concert featuring a jazz band, the 5th grade combined band, the 6th grade band, the intermediate band, and combined band.

Among the songs performed during the evening were “The Bare Necessities,” “Star Wars Main Theme,” “Indiana Jones,” Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Beauty and the Beast” and a collection of what Martin likes to called “Disney Blockbusters.”
A special thank you was made in the event program, recognizing South Pasadena Unified School District Superintendent Geoff Yantz, district officials, principals from the participating schools, members of their staffs, the SPMS Music boosters, the school’s music teachers, parents, family members and custodial staff for supporting the concert.
