The Austin A. Ichinose Memorial Music Collection has continuously delighted Library goers with its wide selection of genres and styles reflecting decades in popular music.
It was established eight years ago through a generous yearly grant from the Craig K. Ichinose family and has grown to include more than one thousand CDs. Rock, Soul, Punk, Garage, Pop, Jazz, and Rockabilly are just a few of the styles contained in this rich and diverse collection.
The varied and eclectic deep musical dive is a reflection of Austin Ichinose’s musical taste and personality. Austin was a beloved Library employee, and after his passing, The South Pasadena Library and Austin’s family wanted to keep his legacy alive through the joyful, dark, and raw sounds of the best in alternative music.
In addition to this gem of a special collection, the Library has an extensive offering of music ranging from Opera to Rap and everything in between.
The South Pasadena Public Library is open seven days a week at 1100 Oxley Street. Online services are available any time. To learn more, visit the library, call (626) 403-7350 or go to www.southpasadenaca.gov/library.
