South Pasadena Police Department | Attempted Carjacking Arrest

On Monday, September 19, 2022, at 3:28 p.m., officers from the South Pasadena Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call of an attempted carjacking in the 400 block of Fair Oaks Avenue.

The victim and her young child were stopped at a red light in their Honda Fit when the suspect, 25-year-old Moises Escorcia of Los Angeles, ran to the driver’s door and attempted to open it. The victim was able to raise her window and lock her door before Escorcia could enter. Escorcia then tried to open the rear door where the victim’s child was seated. After the failed attempt, Escorcia ran to a second vehicle and attempted to enter it but was also unsuccessful. Escorcia then fled, running northbound on Fair Oaks Avenue.

Officers arrived on the scene moments later and searched the area, locating Escorcia at Fair Oaks Avenue and Glenarm Street in Pasadena. Escorcia was arrested without incident and booked into the Alhambra Jail on charges of attempted carjacking.
