South Pasadena’s own Poet Laureate, Ron Koertge, was the guest speaker at the July 17 Rotary meeting. Ron is a 35 year resident of South Pasadena and was just recently appointed by the City Council as the Poet Laureate of South Pasadena. Ron disected and explained a couple of well known poems, Robert Frost’s “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” and “Flanders Fields” by John McRae. Ron concluded by explaining the process of creating his latest work, “Cross Country,” which is nearly finished. Learning how he creates a poem was fascinating.
