“Operation Cookie” delivers decorative containers of cookies for hospitalized, homeless, and special needs veterans.

Cookies are needed for hospitalized homeless, and special needs veterans as part of the annual “Operation Cookie” project to be held on Wednesday, May 24 at the Woman’s Club of South Pasadena clubhouse, 1424 Fremont Avenue. Cookies of all kinds, shapes and sizes are welcome and sugar free cookies are especially needed.

“Operation Cookie” originally began over 80 years ago when Club members sent cookies to soldiers serving in World War II. It continued during war efforts over the next few decades, including the Gulf War and again in Bosnia, Croatia and Kosovo.

“Operation Cookie” no longer ships cookies to war zones, but now sends decorative containers of cookies to patients at local Veteran’s Hospitals, the Wounded Warriors Battalion at Camp Pendleton, convalescent and rehab centers, and other groups serving physically and emotionally challenged men and women veterans.

Cookies, a minimum of two dozen, can be delivered to the Clubhouse between the hours of 7:00 am and 12:00 noon, Wednesday, May 24. Alternate delivery is available the evening before between the hours of 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm. with convenient curbside drop off both days.
