Dog lovers are invited to spend the evening of April 15 dining and dancing while raising funds for Bubbles Dog Rescue. This will allow the year-old nonprofit organization to continue to care for hundreds of dogs and find them homes.
The event will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. April 15 in the club room of the Golden Oaks Apartments, 1000 El Centro St., South Pasadena. Dinner (vegan or chicken), a DJ for dancing, a silent auction and a cash bar will be featured. The entry fee is $55.
The space will be festively decorated. Party attire is requested. Parking is available on city streets.
Sisters Isabelle and Inna Kreydin, born in Kyiv, Ukraine, and their friend Sienna Monnier created Bubbles Dog Rescue in March 2022 on Los Angeles’ west side. Their goal was to find more homes for dogs. They were concerned about the high euthanizing rates in overcrowded animal shelters.
The all-volunteer nonprofit organization raises money to care for the canines and find them temporary or permanent homes. In one year, they have saved 300 dogs and found homes for nearly 150, according to the founders.
The organization is named for Bubbles, a dog they could not save.
The fledgling group has wide community support with more than 6,000 followers on Instagram.
Robin Ortega, manager of South Pasadena’s Golden Oaks apartment building and her husband Mike have fostered dogs for several years. A number have been placed in permanent homes.
She said that the need has increased just from the number of requests that she receives from Bubbles’ staff to transport and foster the animals. “People are returning to work with the pandemic ending,” she said, “and the costs of owning a pet have gone up.” The housing crisis may also play a part.
As a result, the number of pets in shelters has soared.
“A couple of dogs that just touched my heart were euthanized recently,” she said, “because there were no fosters available and not enough money to support them. I felt that I had to do more to raise awareness of this tragedy while also helping this rescue group, which I love for many reasons.”
“Bubbles pulls dogs from all shelters,” she explained, “but their main focus is high-kill shelters.”
Ortega decided to organize a fundraiser to help the group care for the dogs, pay for their often-expensive medical treatment, arrange for transportation and find good homes.

Donations to the 501(c)3 organization are always welcome and may be made in lieu of attending the event (Tax ID No. 88-0886274). Employee matching and other donation programs are listed on the website. Another way to help is to offer to foster a dog.
