If tradition holds true, Dr. Richard Schneider will become the newest mayor of South Pasadena Wednesday night.
Schneider, the current mayor pro tem, is expected to take over for Michael Cacciotti, who will end his 1-year term as mayor. Cacciotti has served as mayor three times for the city since being elected to the City Council in 2001.
Wednesday’s reorganization meeting, starting at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, is open to the public and will include the election of a new mayor and mayor pro tem.
Cacciotti, who will remain on the council, will give a State of the City address prior to the reorganization takes place. The new mayor will then lead the remainder of the council meeting.

In his State of the City address, Cacciotti will talk about the highlights and accomplishments in town over the past year. He will then be honored for his service by his fellow councilmembers.
Cacciotti’s remarks will be a part of the regularly scheduled council meeting inside the Amedee O. “Dick” Richards, Jr., Council Chamber at 1424 Mission St.
