As part of an aggressive infrastructure repair and maintenance effort in the city, El Centro Street is next on a long list of streets in need of a makeover.
The wait is over, as workers from E.C. Construction, based out of South El Monte, will repave the street starting Monday, June 9, from Meridian Avenue east to Fair Oaks Avenue.
Workers will start by grinding off the old asphalt. Next they will pour and level out the new asphalt, and apply an asphaltic concrete cap before striping the street. The project is expected to take just over a week.
At times during construction, the street will be reduced to one lane as crews direct traffic.
South Pasadena City Council members have approved $3 million in road repairs beginning with the new fiscal year, which began July 1.
