Vote yes on Measure U to preserve the South Pasadena that we all love.

As a child growing up in South Pasadena, I enjoyed going to clay classes offered through the Parks and Recreation Department, playing at Orange Grove Park, watching baseball games in the Arroyo and spending more hours than I can remember at our wonderful library.

Over the years, while my husband and I were raising four children, I have continued to enjoy the quality of life and the community that I have come to know and love. As a lifelong resident of South Pasadena, I hope we will preserve the unique charm, history and services provided to our community. Supporting Measure U will help make this possible.

By renewing Measure U (UUT), we will be able to continue funding vital emergency services, street and road maintenance, senior services and recreational programs.

The UUT also supports our historic library, including upgrades to infrastructure and technology. Because of this, the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library has endorsed Measure U.

For nearly four decades, South Pasadena residents and businesses have supported the Utility Users Tax (UUT). The city receives revenue from a 7.5% assessment on telephone, cable, gas, water and electricity bills. The revenue stays 100% in the City and is used to provide service directly to our residents.

I want to see these services continue for the next generation of South Pasadena families. The UUT helps make South Pasadena a wonderful place to live, raise your family and conduct business. I encourage you to join me in voting Yes on Measure U.
