Letter to the Editor | ‘My Support for Dr. Patricia Martinez-Miller for School Board’

'She will keep our most ambitious goals for our kids in front of teachers and administration'

By Richard Murphy

I am a resident of South Pasadena, father of two school-aged boys, a dedicated coach and an infectious disease doctor with L.A. County. I write here to voice my support for Dr. Patricia Martinez-Miller for School Board.

I took the time this past week to listen to all 4 candidates for the Board respond to the questions posed by the PTA Council Special Needs Committee. It was inspiring to hear the ideas and wisdom coming from Dr. Martinez-Miller.

No other candidate had her depth of knowledge about the challenges our children with special educational needs and their families are facing. More broadly, no other candidate had the same level of thoughtful, innovative ideas, based on real, tested teaching experience. She will keep our most ambitious goals for our kids in front of teachers and administration.

Thankfully, our current school administration has shown itself to have the business acumen our district has needed over the years. What we are all sorely in need of is inspired and creative curriculum building and support for all learners. Dr. Martinez-Miller is the only candidate who can offer this to our children. Her candidacy is an opportunity we cannot let pass.
