Dubbed Cruz n’ For Roses and in it’s 13th year, it is one of our city’s Tournament of Roses biggest fundraisers for our self-built float. South Pasadenans have long taken pride in being one of the few self-built floats in the Rose Parade each year with many of our residents taking part not only in putting all the flowers together in the final days leading up to the parade, but volunteers who work tirelessly throughout the year to bring it to fruition.
For 13 years, in late September, young and old alike have looked forward to coming out and seeing all the cool, vintage cars and hot rods beautifully displayed up and down Mission Street. The event takes place in conjunction with the exciting Fire & Police Open House, so it’s a full day of family fun on Mission Street this Sunday!
Have a hot rod or vintage car you’d like to display? There is still time. Check the TOR website for entry information. TOR raises funds through car entries, generous sponsors and this year they are also offering a VIP package that includes entry, a t-shirt, badge, prime car placement, donuts & coffee in the morning followed by a golf cart tour of the show and lunch. Fancy!
The show features close to 300 pre-1975 hotrods and cars, shined up and camera ready! There will be vendors, food and drink, raffles and trophies given out in 18 categories. All proceeds go towards the construction of our 2018 Rose Parade float. The parade theme this year is Making a Difference and our float design reflects the team spirit and service of our Booster Club. We have three Grand Marshalls this year, Olympians Janet Evans, Greg Louganis and Allyson Felix. It’s always a moment of community pride as our self-built float makes it’s way around the corner on Colorado Boulevard and they announce “here comes South Pasadena!”
Come on out to the Car Show to support the float and stay tuned for the annual Crunch Time Party and opportunities to volunteer putting flowers on the float in the final days leading up to New Year’s Day. #SouthPasPride Visit: SPTOR.ORG
