The South Pasadena Police Department information release:
“South Pasadena, CA – On January 8, 2020 at about 9:50 am, a motorcyclist was killed in an accident that occurred in the 300 Block of Fremont Avenue. Witnesses told South Pasadena Police that the motorcyclist was traveling northbound, at a high rate of speed and attempted to pass slower traffic on the right. At some point, the motorcyclist lost control, struck a portion of the street curb and ultimately collided into a large truck that was also northbound on Fremont Avenue. The motorcyclist died at the scene and his name is being withheld pending family notification.
Both lanes of Fremont Avenue, between Columbia Street and Buena Vista Avenue were closed for a short time while officers investigated the incident. A preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcycle involved in this incident was recently reported stolen out of the City of Burbank. Investigators are continuing to analyze physical evidence and follow up with potential witnesses.”

At approximately 9:53 a.m. Wednesday morning, a motorcyclist was involved in a fatal crash with a white utility truck on Fremont Ave., just south of the Columbia St. corridor in South Pasadena.
According to Lieutenant Tom Jacobs of the South Pasadena Police Department, one of the officers investigating the scene, “It appear(ed) the motorcyclist lost control and hit the back of the truck. At this point in time it is all under investigation so there are no other extenuating circumstances at this point.”
Several responding vehicles and officers were dispatched to the location, examining the site of the accident.
The northern section of Fremont was blockaded between Buena Vista St. and Columbia St., while traffic officers diverted the traffic flow from Fremont westbound onto Buena Vista.
No other injuries or fatalities were reported at the time and no further information could be provided, with Lieutenant Jacobs stating, “(We) will have more details… at this point it’s all preliminary.”
