EVENT MONDAY: Memorial Day Ceremony at War Memorial Building

 

Memorial Day, a day on which those who died in active military service are remembered, will be observed Monday, May 28, in South Pasadena with a special event at the War Memorial Building.

Those who lost their lives and the many who served in the military will be honored during a ceremony scheduled from 9 to 10 a.m. at one of South Pasadena’s most historic sites. The War Memorial Building is located at 435 Fair Oaks Avenue.

The event will feature a welcome by South Pasadena Mayor Dr. Richard D. Schneider. Poet and novelist Ronald Koertge, a South Pasadena resident, will be the guest speaker.

In addition to Koertge, the National Anthem will be sung by 7^th grade student Maxine Park, and patriotic music will be performed by the Oneonta Chancel Choir and the Los Angeles Community Youth Choir.

David Niznik, a veteran, will be recognized and Congresswoman Judy Chu, whose 27^th District represents South Pasadena, plans to attend.

Concluding the program, Schneider will thank those in the audience for serving in the Armed Services.
