On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at 10:50 a.m., South Pasadena Police officers responded to a report of a burglary in the 300 Block of Camino Del Sol. A suspect had knocked on the resident’s front door, posing as a utility worker wearing a bright orange vest, and indicated that a pipe had burst in the backyard. The resident answered the door and followed the suspect to the backyard.

While the victim was distracted, another suspect entered the residence and was confronted by the victim’s wife. The second suspect claimed to be looking for his co- worker, and the two suspects fled in an unknown direction by unknown means. The victims were not harmed, and no loss was reported.

The South Pasadena Police Department recommends not answering the door if you do not recognize the person on the other side. Verify the identity of the person at your door by calling the company they claim to work for, and be cautious of anyone trying to coax you out of your home. If you feel uneasy and believe the person to be suspicious, contact the Police Department.
