Dangerous Weapon Charge

A man possessing brass knuckles was arrested outside Orchard Supply Hardware in South Pasadena on Tuesday afternoon

South Pasadena Police Department

A 25-year-old man from Los Angeles was arrested Tuesday afternoon for possessing brass knuckles, considered a dangerous weapon, after he exited Orchard Supply Hardware (OSH) in the 400 block of Fair Oaks Avenue in South Pasadena.

At about 2 p.m., officers responded to a call regarding two individuals attempting to shoplift by taking items into the (OSH) store restroom.

South Pasadena Crime Prevention Officer Richard Lee said an alarm inside the store was activated and the man and a woman placed an item on the floor before they entered a restroom. Officers arrived as they exited the restroom and Lee said the man had no store property in his possession.

The suspects exited the store, and again were detained by police who discovered brass knuckles in the man’s possession.

Lee said the woman was also detained and she was found to be a convicted felon.  A chemical agent and a credit card, not belonging to her, were found in her possession. The couple, noted Lee, was not arrested for shoplifting because they exited the store with no store property in their possession.
