Tickets are now available to attend Crunch Time, the major fundraiser for the South Pasadena Tournament of Roses’ (SPTOR) self-built parade float. The popular annual event will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, December 29 at the War Memorial Building at 435 Fair Oaks Avenue.
“South Pasadena’s Crunch Time Party is a way for community members to have a great time while helping to raise funds to support the float,” said Ed Donnelly, SPTOR president. “It is because of this support that our float rides in the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade Jan. 1.”
All proceeds from the fundraiser, after expenses, go toward building and decorating the City of South Pasadena’s 2024 parade entry, “Boogie Fever.” Costs are estimated to be as much as $150,000. The float is built entirely by volunteers.
The theme of the party is disco to reflect the float’s title. “Boogie Fever” was the name of a top song from the 1970s. The tune echoes the parade’s overall theme: Celebrating a World of Music. Guests are encouraged to dress in disco-era attire.
Dinner will be catered by StoneFire Grill. Beer, wine and a signature cocktail will be available. Live and silent auctions along with a raffle will be featured as part of the evening.
