The City of South Pasadena has issued a health advisory for this Sunday, 04/12/20. In an effort to reduce exposure to the coronavirus, the City has closed all parks to the public. The parks will reopen on Monday, 04/13/20.
Please help make South Pasadena a safer city for everyone.
Thank you for your understanding and enjoy your Easter and Passover at home with your immediate family only.
With a city council largely made up of doctors and lawyers, our city government is making decisions on emotions and herd mentality. We can’t afford this kind of hysterical nonsense — let’s start making evidence-based decisions as a community. If you propose a measure like closing parks, it’s your duty to provide the evidence that supports that policy. What are some of the better scientific studies showing that public parks are a particular nexus of disease in a pandemic? Who were the principal authors, and what journals were these studies published in?
Before you make policy, make an argument. Provide evidence, and draw logical inferences from that evidence. If you’re not up to that challenge, you’re not up to making public policy.
