The South Pasadena Arroyo area is the scene of an active police search tonight following a high-speed chase that began around 8:30 PM.
The Los Angeles Police Department was in pursuit of a black Ford Mustang that led officers into South Pasadena, crossing into town via the York Bridge and continuing onto Pasadena Avenue. The suspects abandoned the vehicle near Stoney Drive and fled on foot into the Arroyo Seco.
Police helicopters are currently circling the area in low, tight patterns as part of the search effort. The 110 Freeway was closed northbound after the Marmion Way exit around 9:00PM, with traffic being diverted onto Marmion.
The search has extended into the South Pasadena Golf Course area, with additional police units and K9 teams deployed into the Arroyo. As of 9:45 PM, the operation has intensified, with officers widening their search perimeter.
The reason for the chase and the number of suspects involved remain unknown at this time. This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

UPDATE 10:00PM: Police helicopters have left the area as of about 9:50pm. Police units are still in the area, but are beginning to break-off. It’s unclear if the suspects were caught at this time.
