Woman’s Club Honors Veterans | Luncheon Includes Special Guests

Veterans Day is observed annually on November 11 for honoring military veterans, that is, persons who have served in the United States Armed Forces

The November luncheon meeting of the Woman’s Club of South Pasadena paid tribute to veterans, including special guests from World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War.

Special luncheon speaker was Maureen O’Brien Sacco, president of the American Legion Auxiliary-Pasadena. Guests also heard from Evelyn Zneimer, who talked about how members of her law firm provide legal services to U.S. veterans. Zneimer is the current City Clerk for South Pasadena.

Guests enthusiastically welcomed the veterans. Each veteran was introduced and briefly talked about their military affiliation. The veterans included Jack Dolan, WWII Army 34th Infranty; Bruce Crum, Vietnam US Marine Corp; John McGuire, Vietnam, U.S. Air Force; Werner Hintzen, Korean War, U.S. Navy lieutenant, and Joan Moffet a WWII Army nurse.

Moffet, a longtime member of the Woman’s Club, was in the nursing field for many years and worked at several area hospitals before raising her family in South Pasadena. She also participated in several Polio Vaccine clinics held at the Woman’s Club clubhouse.
