Man arrested on a number of felony counts following incident Wednesday afternoon on It started with an argument between a man and woman inside a vehicle, according to Sgt. Matt Ronnie of the South Pasadena Police Department, and ended with the male subject going to jail.

Ronnie said the argument ensued Wednesday afternoon while they were driving through the hill area of South Pasadena. “The man accelerates and the woman says, ‘Hey, slow down, let me out of the car.’ I’m sure there were some expletives exchanged. He refuses to let her out of the car. At some point during this whole crazy driving she tries to abandon the vehicle from the passenger seat and gets caught up in the car and gets dragged 50 to 60 feet.”

Ronnie said three witnesses watched it and a surveillance camera form a house facing the street captured the incident.

“We got 911 calls, respond up there and sure enough the suspect is standing outside the car,” explain the sergeant, noting that the victim was sitting on a curb crying before she was transported to a local hospital with “superficial abrasions,” said Ronnie. “She evidently hit her head when she fell from the car.”

Police and fire department personnel responded to the scene of the crime at about 3:45 p.m. in the 1900 block of Alpha Avenue.

SPPD Officer Jeff Holland said the vehicle driven by the male suspect is a Ford 150 truck.

The man was arrested on a number of felony charges, according to Ronnie.
