Next WISPPA Meeting: Saturday, April 7th at 9:00 . “WISPPA Celebrates the Arts: Lissa Layng Reynolds will be performing a 45 minute concert reading of A WOMAN OF INDEPENDENT MEANS written by Elizabeth Forsythe Hailey. Actress and WISPPA member Lissa Layng Reynolds performed the play, “A Woman of Independent Means” for a 6 month run at the Fremont Centre Theatre in South Pasadena, before touring the show in the US and Canada. She also performed a shorter version at the Arts Crawl recently. Even if have seen the play (or reading) or have read the book, this is a wonderful opportunity to connect with this special play/book again. If you haven’t experienced this, you won’t want to miss it!!

In honor of Women’s History Month, learn how to edit Wikipedia. In a 2011 survey the Wikipedia Foundation found that less than 10% of Wikipedia’s contributors were women. Glendale Community College would like to change that. On Thursday March 22 from 2:00-3:30 p.m. and Friday March 23 from 2:00-3:30 p.m. in Library Building, room 313 librarians will walk you through the steps of editing Wikipedia in some training sessions. The focus will be on improving existing Wikipedia articles about notable women. All are welcome to attend but an RSVP is requested here. Questions? Inaugural performance of Music Director Ryan Luévano’s, “The Neue World Orchestra Project” and virtuosos Yu-Ting Wu on violin and Ekaterina Bessmeltseva on piano. Saturday, March 10 at 1 p.m. Location: Library Community Room. The free event will showcase The NWOP is a brand new professional orchestra consisting of some of the finest local musicians who are just getting started as session players, instructors, recording artists, and soloists. By updating long-standing concert traditions, NWOP aims to renew passions for orchestral music and broaden the audience for live classical performances. In doing so, NWOP will highlight new and emerging musical talent. To visually enhance the concert experience, a variety of LA artists will display their art pieces in the beautiful, historic venue. The concert is presented by the partnership with the South Pasadena Public Library, the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library and the Friends of the Rialto Theatre. Tickets are free, however, reservations are strongly encouraged as seating is limited. Reservations may be made online at https://nwopmarch10.eventbrite.com. Series of music concerts produced by the Pascale Music Institute (formerly the South Pasadena Strings Program) sponsored by the Woman’s Club of South Pasadena.
