Wine & Song is back at Mamma’s Brick Oven this week… well, technically the tent behind Mamma’s. No tickets needed, just a suggested donation in the bucket (or virtual Venmo bucket if you prefer). 7pm showtime.
Tony Gilkyson has played and recorded with Lone Justice, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Dave Alvin, Bob Dylan, Kris Kristofferson, K.D. Lang, and X among many others. He has produced recordings for Exene Cervenka, and sister Eliza Gilkyson. With Tom Waits, he co-produced a couple of Chuck E. Weiss albums. He also has played guitar on numerous film soundtracks including the Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line, The Big Lebowski, Don’t Come Knockin’ and All the King’s Men with producer T Bone Burnett. And he grew up right here in the neighborhood in South Pas.
Hannah Connolly is an Eau Claire, Wisconsin native. She was brought to my attention by Tim Fleming after he did some recording with her. I’ve been eager to see her perform live ever since. American Songwriter writes, “Hannah Connolly is a breath of fresh air for the Folk/Country scene showing off her graceful vocals and uplifting music, acting as a resurgence for classic country twang and great storytelling.”
