Already equaling its win total of a year ago, South Pasadena High picked up its third straight win of the season with a 13-6 victory over Eastside in Lancaster Friday night.
While the Tigers improved to 3-0, host Eastside fell to 0-3.
South Pasadena did all its damage in the second period, scoring on a Quentin Pithey 1-yard run with 10:04 on the clock, making it 6-0 before the extra point was missed, and tallied again with eight seconds on the clock when Ethan Hong went three yards up the middle, giving the Tigers a 13-6 cushion at the half.
The Lions scored their only points on the night when quarterback Semaj Howard, a powerful force for Eastside, rolled around the right side from 10 yards out with 3:25 left in the game.

Eastside attempted a two-point conversion, but Howard was stopped as he tried to pull his club within six in the closing minutes.
Following the kickoff, the Tigers picked up some key first downs and managed to run out the clock.
“A win is a win and we’ll take it,” said South Pasadena Coach Jeff Chi. “Like last week we had too many penalties. We have a lot of things to clean up, but our defense was fabulous. I’m really proud of that.”
Hong led South Pasadena rushers with 173 yards on 19 carries. Joshva Cruzaka Stride added 26 yards on five carries.
Tigers’ quarterback Samuel Luna-Long was limited to light action in the second half with a slight wrist injury, but continues to shine on offense. Another productive night, he connected on 6 of 10 passes for 116 yards. Luna-Long did not play in the 4th quarter, giving way to backup Grant Huntley.
The Tigers have a bye next week and will return to action in two weeks on the road against Alhambra.
Update to follow… Stay tuned….
