A body found in a homeless encampment in the Arroyo is believed to be a male subject, according to South Pasadena Police Department officials.
Acting SPPD Captain Robert Bartl said two individuals were walking down a dirt path using metal detectors last Friday morning at about 9 a.m. when they discovered the body near San Pascual Drive and Stoney Drive. Bartl said the body was in a decomposed state and found on an old mattress.
“He was beyond recognition,” said Bartl of the person he said could have possibly been homeless. Bartl said drugs were found near the body.
The case has been turned over to the L.A. County Coroner’s office.
