On July 2, 2025, South Pasadena Police arrested 36-year-old Jared Wilson of Los Angeles for multiple firearm-related offenses after a late-night traffic stop revealed he was concealing a loaded semi-automatic handgun.

Traffic Stop Leads to Gun Arrest

At approximately 11:31 p.m., South Pasadena Police Officers pulled over a Cadillac DTS in the 2000 block of Alhambra Road for traffic violations. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers encountered uncooperative behavior from the driver, later identified as Wilson. He refused to lower the car windows—claiming they were inoperative—and declined to open the door or exit the vehicle when instructed.

Officers Discover Loaded Handgun

Officers managed to open the door and safely remove Wilson from the vehicle. During the process, they discovered that he had been sitting on and attempting to hide a loaded semi-automatic handgun. Further investigation revealed that Wilson is a convicted felon, prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.

Charges and Booking

Wilson was arrested and booked at the Pasadena City Jail. He faces multiple charges, including possession of a loaded firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Police Praise Officers’ De-Escalation Tactics

Chief Brian Solinsky commended the officers involved, stating, “The officers employed exemplary tactics, communication, and de-escalation techniques. Their professionalism and reliance on training helped prevent a potentially dangerous situation from escalating into a violent encounter.”
