Multiple fire departments respond to apartment complex's 911 calls

A fire broke out in the apartment complex located at 1429 Monterey Road Thursday February 21, 2019. According to Battalion Chief Chris Szenczi, no injuries were reported.

After receiving the call local firefighters forced entry into the unit where they discovered a floor heater had started the fire and quickly put the small blaze out, fire officials said.

Szenczi stated that there was nobody home at the time of the fire.

A resident of the apartment complex reported to The South Pasadenan.

“The neighbor that lives above us his son smelled some burning and we all were kind of smelling the same thing and then his son alarmed everyone and we all went downstairs and saw flames through their window.”

Fire officials remained on scene preforming a thorough inspection of the complex before leaving.  Traffic was tied up due to road closures for about an hour.
