Not many people are aware that nearby Ernest E. Debs Regional Park is also a landmark location of the bustling city’s growth. It marks the original Northeast boundary of the founding pueblo (known as El Pueblo de la Reina de Los Angeles) which was founded in 1781.
An almost unknown marker that was dedicated in 1981 marks the spot of the boundary adjacent to the park’s Monterey Road entrance. I know this because I was present at the dedication.
