Parson’s Nose Theater can’t let the 400th Anniversary Year of the great playwright Moliere, the Father of Modern Comedy, go by without a salute. PNT has performed five of his wonderful comedies over the years with great success. This February we again celebrate his talent with a published script, a new “PNT Radio Theater” podcast, and a live “PNT Readers’ Theater” presentation of Moliere’s “The Mi$er!”.
PNT Artistic Director Lance Davis has translated and adapted Moliere’s classic, capturing the hellzapoppin, vaudeville spirit of Moliere’s chief influence, the raucous, Italian commedia dell arte. Disgusting, old Harpagon, the stingiest man in Paris, is willing to destroy the lives of his own children, Elise and Cleante, and the innocent, young Marianne to grow his fortune. Can the lovely matchmaker, Frosine, and the wily LaFletch save them?
Join us for cookies, wine, conversation, and a fabulous Readers’ Theater reading of this fast-paced, classic farce, plus Lance Davis’ entertainingly brief “Introduction to Monsieur Moliere!”
Saturdays February 18 and 25 at 7 PM
Sundays February 19 and 26 at 3 PM
