
On Sunday, July 19, 2026, at approximately 9:00 a.m., South Pasadena police officers responded to a trespassing call at a business located at Monterey Road and Fair Oaks Avenue that resulted in the arrest of a suspect. A short video recorded by a member of the public documented a portion of the incident during which an officer was attempting to gain control of the suspect during the arrest.
In response to the incident, South Pasadena Police Chief Elmore provided the following statement: “All use of force cases involving our officers are thoroughly reviewed to ensure compliance with our policies and best practices. I deeply value transparency and accountability, and it is my priority to honor our operating standards and maintain the trust that our department has built within the community.” The incident is currently under investigation in accordance with the department’s Use of Force Policy.
The suspect was arrested for Trespassing, Resisting Arrest, Assault on Emergency Personnel, and Public Intoxication.
