SPORTS UPDATE | Tigers Fall in Boys Water Polo

South Pasadena High’s boys’ water polo team fell to Redondo Union in CIF-SS Playoff action

After rolling past its completion to win the Rio Hondo League, South Pasadena High’s Boys’ water polo team suffered a major setback, falling to Redondo Union 9-5 Tuesday in the first round of the CIF-Southern Section playoffs at home.

The Tigers played a difficult nonleague schedule and finished the season with an overall 15-13 overall record.

Despite the loss to Redondo Union, South Pasadena can be proud of its 8-0 record and first place finish in Rio Hondo League play.

Girls Tennis

  • South Pasadena High’s girls’ tennis defeated Hemet 12-6 on Wednesday in CIF first round play.

The Tigers will host Garden Grove on Friday starting at 2 p.m. in second round play.

With the first round win, the Tigers improved to 11-5 on the season, 4-4 against league competition.

 

Girls Golf

  • The South Pasadena High golf team competed at Jurupa Hill in the CIF Team Championships. South Pasadena won the Rio Hondo League. Look for a future update.

 

Girls Cross Country

  • Cross Country wrapped up league competition Thursday at Lacy Park with both boys’ and girls’ teams in position to capture Rio Hondo League titles.

Football

South Pasadena finished its season with a 3-7 overall mark, 1-3 record in Rio Hondo League play and finished in fourth place.

On a positive note, the Tigers won their final game of the season, beating La Canada 27-13.
