Middle school! Is there anything like it? South Pasadena Middle School is the place where students really begin to grow into who they are going to be; this is usually where they start to explore new things like woodworking, cooking, sewing, painting, drama, singing, music and all sorts of sports. It’s where they start to be independent, juggling several classes and teachers and finding what they’re passionate about. It’s also a time of transition and luckily our middle schoolers have a tremendous leader in Principal Kubela, who not only has a great relationship with the students but with the teachers and parents as well.

Kubela says, “when I think of South Pasadena I think of community. Working as a community with a focus on student learning, using data with outcomes, collaborating and celebrating our achievement, we can assure success for all our students.”

Parents could be seen walking their dogs (really an excuse to walk their kids to school!) as they watched their children walk into the middle school, many for the first time. There was much more trepidation on the faces of parents than on students, who mostly seemed excited to see their friends and to start something new.

Lots of exciting new things and new staff at the middle school that we will delve into in the coming weeks. For now, the Tiger Cubs are getting settled in, getting to know their teachers and for some, getting to know their new campus.
Here We Go Tiger Cubs! Here’s to a most successful and fun-filled school year!
