Registration is underway for the 2022 South Pasadena Tournament of Roses Golf Tournament. The tourney is slated for Saturday, June 25 at Arroyo Seco Golf Course in South Pasadena.
Registration starts at 7 a.m. with a shotgun, best ball start beginning at 8 a.m. on the 18-hole, 3-par course. Entry fees include lunch, awards, and a drawing following the tournament.
In addition, $10,000 is up for grabs going to a golfer sinking a hole-in-one on a designated hole. Mamma’s Brick Oven Pizza & Pasta in South Pasadena is sponsoring the hole.
Tournament proceeds will support steel and flower costs along with other materials associated with constructing South Pasadena’s float that will take part in the 134th Rose Parade in Pasadena on Monday, January 2, 2023. Tournament of Roses officials have a long-standing policy of not holding the parade on a Sunday, pushing it a day later on Monday.
Work has already begun on the city’s entry that will roll down the 5 ½-mile Colorado Boulevard route.
Cost of the golf tournament is $90 per person or $300 for a foursome. Sponsorships are also available. Traditionally in the past the event has brought large turnouts.
“People can support the South Pasadena tournament of Roses by playing in the golf tournament, by getting a tee sign and become a sponsor, by donating gifts to the raffle, and new this year we will be having a online auction starting a few days before the tournament and ending a day later,” said Alan Vlacich, the tournament director.
Vlacich said all abilities are welcome in what he calls “a really low-key golf tournament that is a lot of fun for golfers. It’s a great day to be around friends and neighbors and support our local float.”
Gold sponsors at $700 are being sought. At that level, supporters receive green fees for eight persons, eight lunches, and 12 raffle tickets. The sponsorship also includes recognition in brochures and signage.
Silver sponsors receive at the $400 level includes one tee sign, green fees for four golfers, four lunches, four raffle tickets and recognition in brochures and signage.
Individual tee signs can be purchased for $125 each.
