Local residents celebrated the holiday like many generations before them, with neighborhood block parties. Families residing in the 1500 block of Ramona carried on a four decades long tradition with a neighborhood BBQ and pot luck dinner and entertainment for youngsters. Their block was barricaded by authorities to allow them to celebrate the festivities safely.
