In early September, members of the public voted to choose this year’s One City One Story (OCOS) Citywide reading program title. Voters were asked to choose between The Final Revival of Opal and Nev by Dawnie Walton and The Queens of Animation: The Untold Story of the Women Who Transformed the World of Disney and Made Cinematic History by Nathalia Holt. These titles were selected by the Library’s OCOS Selection Committee, because they reflect the theme “Life in Art.”

Based on popular vote, the winning title of the 2022 OCOS reading program is The Queens of Animation by Nathalia Holt! From Snow White to Moana, from Pinocchio to Frozen, the animated films of Walt Disney Studios have moved and entertained millions. But few fans know that behind these groundbreaking features was an incredibly influential group of women who fought for respect in an often ruthless, male-dominated industry and who have slipped under the radar for decades. Borrow the book, ebook, or eaudiobook from the South Pasadena Public Library and participate in one of the Library’s many OCOS events! For more information visit www.southpasadenaca.gov/ocos.
