Storytimes: The line-up includes Preschool Storytime for 3- to 5-year olds on Mondays from 10:30 a.m.–11:00 a.m.; Toddler Storytime on Fridays for 1- to 2-year olds from 10:30 a.m.–10:50 a.m. and for 2- to 3-year olds from 11:00 a.m.–11:20 a.m..  Family Storytime for all ages will debut in its new timeslot on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m.–11:00 a.m..  Family Storytime often includes a creative craft activity related to the themes presented in the books that are read. Storytime at the Library is a wonderful way to support the development of literacy and social skills. Children will enjoy librarians reading age-appropriate books aloud to the group, and sharing fingerplays, songs and movement, and flannelboard stories.

Barks and Books: On January 14, February 11, and March 11, between 3:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m., children are invited to visit the Library to read animal-related short stories of their choice to dogs from the Pasadena Humane Society Companion Animal Program at Barks and Books sessions. Not only does this make reading more fun, it also builds a child’s confidence in reading aloud.  The available books also help children realize that animals experience a range of emotions similar to their own and that they have basic needs too, encouraging them to appreciate the importance of treating all animals with respect and kindness.  Sign-ups are required. Go to www.southpasadenaca.gov/register.

Upon request made no later than four (4) business days before the event, the City will provide a reasonable accommodation for a qualified person with a disability to have equal access to the event.  Please contact ADA Coordinator and Human Resources Manager, Mariam Lee Ko, at (626) 403-7312 or fill out the City’s request form available at www.southpasadenaca.gov and email the form to Human Resources at HR@southpasadenaca.gov.
