South Pasadena High School Track & Field – Spring 2025 Meet Highlights by Nicholas Yeh

The South Pasadena Track and Field team competed at the Redondo Nike Invitational at Redondo Union High School from Friday, March 7th to Saturday March 8th. With over 100 teams attending, the meet was split between two days, with the Distance and Throws Carnival on Friday and the rest of the meet on Saturday.

On Friday, senior Abigail Errington ran a time of 10:26.12 in the 3200m, finishing 2nd in the championship race to Trabuco Hills’ Holly Barker. Later in the night, the boys Distance Medley Relay team, which consisted of senior Adam Ruiz, junior Kai Tilley, senior Rocket McDonald, and sophomore Michael Scarince, won the varsity DMR race in a time of 10:30.61. Scarince, who ran the final leg, received the baton in 6th place, a whole 7 seconds behind the then-leaders Martin Luther King. Scarince closed the gap and took the lead in the last 200 meters, securing the victory for the Tigers. The boys also succeeded in their individual events. Tilley earned medals in his two other races, the 3200m (9:43.21 personal record) and 1600m (4:33.71 PR). Ruiz ran under 2 minutes for the first time in the open 800m (1:59.97 PR).

On Saturday, the 800m Sprint Medley Relay school record was broken for the first time in 14 years. The team of sophomore Dylan Revuelta, junior Aidan Chavez, and seniors David Eisenberg and Sebastian Martinez ran a speedy time of 1:37.85. Senior Peter Dickinson ran a personal record of 15.52 in the 110m hurdles and a season record of 40.13 in the 300m hurdles to open his season. Senior Avery Taylor also ran a personal record, sprinting a 15.34 in the 100m hurdles. Sophomore Lily Kimura jumped a personal record of 5’ 1” in the High Jump. Revuelta, who holds the freshman 400m school record, opened his sophomore season in the 400m with a 51.36.
