The South Pasadena Arts Council (SPARC) is proud to announce the opening of X Borders II, a solo exhibition by acclaimed Mexican artist Francisco Mora. The show debuts with a public reception on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 4–7 PM, at the SPARC Gallery located inside the South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce.
X Borders II marks Mora’s highly anticipated return to the gallery world after more than 30 years in the entertainment industry. Known for his contributions to major animation studios, virtual reality projects, and international design ventures, Mora brings a deeply personal, experimental approach to this new body of work.
In his X Borders series, Mora embraces a stream-of-consciousness practice—drawing blindfolded with his non-dominant hand, layering abstract lines, and reshaping them into evocative forms. His work explores transformation, deconstruction, and rebirth, evoking metaphysical thresholds and the transitions of the human spirit.
“This exhibit is meant to captivate the human spirit,” Mora explains. “I wanted to return to basics—pencils, charcoal, and nature sticks—and reconnect with my inner child through pure creative flow.”
About the Artist
Born in Guadalajara, Mexico in 1966, Francisco Mora moved to California as a teenager and later graduated with honors from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Over the past three decades, he has built a distinguished career as a fine artist and concept artist for leading studios including DreamWorks Animation, Paramount, and Disney. His work spans animation, live action, VR, and architectural projects worldwide.
Mora’s paintings have been shown across California, with works in permanent collections and major auctions. In 2025, one of his X Borders paintings was selected for an international auction sponsored by Tequila Don Julio.
