A two-car collision occurred this morning at approximately 9:40 a.m. at the intersection of Monterey Rd and Meridian Ave.
The cars involved were that of a utility semi-truck, towing two trailers, and a silver Ford Focus hatchback.
According to a driver that witnessed the incident the smaller car was driving westbound on Monterey while trying to make a yellow light, the truck – heading northbound on Meridian – subsequently t-boned the Ford Focus on the rear driver side seat.
The eyewitness mentioned that the truck “…must have been going 30-35 mph.” The damage sustained indicated a near-miss for the driver of the Ford, a young woman in her early 20’s.
Both drivers were in stable condition, with no passengers occupying either vehicle.
A resident who lives on the corner of the intersection noted that, ” Every day I see drivers trying to make the light here, often running the red just barely.”
