South Pasadena Police Report
South Pasadena Police officers successfully intervened in a mental health crisis involving a suicidal individual threatening to jump from the roof of a residence on St. Albans Avenue.
Suicidal Subject Located on Roof Ledge
At approximately 6:35 p.m., officers responded to a home in the 200 block of St. Albans Avenue following a report of a potentially suicidal person. Upon arrival, officers found the subject seated on the roof’s ledge, roughly 25 feet above the ground.
Officers Successfully De-Escalate the Situation
Police quickly initiated communication in an effort to calm and de-escalate the situation. Through ongoing dialogue, one officer was able to safely approach and pull the individual away from the ledge, preventing a potential tragedy.
Medical Assistance and Mental Health Evaluation
Paramedics from the South Pasadena Fire Department responded and treated the individual for pre-existing injuries. The person was then transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation.
