The Restoration Concerts Committee of the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library proudly announces its 30th anniversary season, a landmark celebration of music and community, running from September 14, 2025, through May 10, 2026. Curated for the first time by David Speltz, this season promises a rich tapestry of performances featuring acclaimed soloists and ensembles.

Diverse Lineup for a Milestone Year

Opening the season is the Tesserae Baroque Ensemble, a fresh addition to the Restoration stage. The series will continue to showcase an exceptional roster of talent, including:

  • Rodolfo Leone, first-prize winner of the 2017 International Beethoven Piano Competition Vienna
  • The AlmaNova Duo, performing with a guest percussionist
  • The Restoration Ensemble, led by violinist Tereza Stanislov
  • Joshua Ranz and Friends, presenting a string quartet with clarinet

Two performances by the New Hollywood String Quartet, the series’ Quartet-in-Residence, are scheduled for November and March. Internationally acclaimed pianist Robert Thies, a longtime audience favorite, will close out the season alongside a guest collaborator.

Affordable Classical Music in a Historic Setting

All eight concerts will take place on Sundays at 4:00 PM in the historic South Pasadena Library Community Room. The venue offers an intimate and acoustically vibrant space that continues to draw concertgoers from across the San Gabriel Valley.

Season tickets are now on sale for $160, offering a $40 discount over individual ticket prices. To view the full concert schedule and purchase tickets, visit www.friendsofsopaslibrary.org/restoration-concerts.

Honoring Three Decades of Cultural Impact

In honor of the series’ 30-year milestone, a special celebratory event will be held at one of the concerts this season. Since its founding, the Restoration Concerts Committee—entirely volunteer-run—has brought affordable, world-class classical music to South Pasadena while supporting enhancements to the Library and Community Room.

Proceeds from past concerts have funded improvements including new carpeting, chairs, a digital projector, sound system, and other vital updates to the venue.

“We are proud to celebrate three decades of musical excellence and community support,” said a committee spokesperson. “This season is both a tribute to our legacy and a step into the future.
