We recently stopped in to check out the progress at the former VONS space on Fair Oaks and photos show a completely gutted structure inside the former grocery outlet. For now, there has been no “official” statement coming from the city or the new tenant, so rumors have swirled.
It was heard that it was going to be an Amazon Fresh but the deal fell through. Now all signs are pointing to a new, large Trader Joe’s that may also include a training center for the iconic Pasadena company.
The unofficial word is that the small Trader Joe’s on Mission will remain, as it is one of the first stores, and that the new one will simply be a second location in South Pasadena.
Trader Joe’s is certainly a favorite among locals, and residents, for the most part, are thrilled, especially those who live on that side of town, saying they will appreciate the closer location and larger parking lot.
